First, I want to thank all the map makers for their fantastic work. I have to admit, i'm not following this closely (enough) :o. I plan on trying my hand on mapmaking myself (Im quite familiar with the FMB, just not with the scripting yet).

That said.. I'm a bit dissapointed ever since buying 1946, i havent yet flown *any* of the new planes online, at least not on UKD1. I'm dying to get some time in the IL10 and the new (well, old) Jap planes. Some maps with 'medium fantasy' planes could be nice too (like those Yaks with added rocket booster against 262s and the like). Do we have anything of that sort, or is anything being worked on ?

I suppose some maps could just be tweaked.. for instance, Berlin map. You could have 262s on blue side (maybe even Lerche as bonus?), and IL10s as well as some rocket boosted USSR planes on red side. We might want to increase the distance between bases though, or at least put the red jets on the far away base.

Similary there are plenty of late war maps featuring the IL-2 that could be upgraded to IL-10. Is there anyway to retrieve existing missions from the cache ?

There are plenty of new maps coming for UKded2 with all this new/old stuff. Guess it is time to change to Ukded2 Skinny ;)

But joking aside, I guess it is time to switch from FBD to SC on Ukded1 and to give them all the maps from UKded2.

I thought the IL-10 was already on the Berlin map? The Ar-234 could be there too.

I just submitted Rhur Valley Encirclement which has the Ar-234 on it as well. I will be doing a full out 1946 map and everyone can see if they want to do it.

There is a working 1946 map on UK2 that has most of the new flyables (Lerche/MiG e.t.c.) but I must say that not everyone agrees with having these sorts of scenarios in the map cycle at all. I think they can be fun but I've heard some strong argument against any kind of 'UFO' inclusions along the lines of 'they never flew' 'it's not historic.' Which to be honest if folks are going to argue about what sort of Spitfires were available in the Med at certain times, then this sort of inclusion is bound to get a few folks backs up in the 'pure history' crowd. We have two alternatives as I see it,

One is to include these maps, which in a cycle of over 50 are only ever going to be a handful.
Two is to have a set of these maps (5 or 6) linked and have a special declared 'Jet Set Evening' every so often.

p.s. The Arado is on two maps now Berlin and Remagen (and Rhur which is currently up for testing)
p.p.s. With the MiG9,YP80,IL10 and F4U there is the makings of a Korean war map which would be a fairly historic jet map.

Just flown the Arado on the Berlin map and with a full bomb load it seems to be very heavy and have very poor climb rate. Once the bombs have been dropped you can however scoot away at 690KPH on the deck! :D

My opinion would be Firelok to just have them in the rotation. I can't see there being a huge number of 1946 based maps...I guess that depends on who wants to send one in. I would say they would have to be designated as not having any attempt at being historically accurate missions. As it is, I think most maps have equal amounts of accuracy with balance whenever necessary.

I know some folks will scream about it...but we already have people who scream because they have to play on a Pacific map, or they have to play on an East front map, or whatever. My 2 cents on that anyways.

I'm going to have a look at a 1946 scenario and see how that goes.

Yellow2: Yeah the Ar-234 is a bit slow with the bombs attached...even takeoff with the RATO pods is rough but its great once the bombs are away. You can speed back. Which is nice really because online people tend to notice you more just on the attack run or just after the attack run. It also means that the plane doesn't unbalance the maps as you can be caught in a Ar-234 by a prop fighter. Not as easily as a really slow Heinkel but you're not invincible so the standard evasion/escort/air superiority tactics are still important.

That's my opinion too. There are not a lot of 46 maps, so a bit of fun now and then with the new planes.......Some people wil make a fuss, but it's not all the time, most of the time the maps will still be historical.

Just my thoughts..
