Yes the time is here, i'm making my very first map.

Now when i was choosing the scenario for my first project, the natural choice was one of the big battles in Karelian Isthmus on the summer of 1944. I settled to Äyräpää-Vuosalmi mainly because layout was by far the easiest to make.

After the break-through attempt at Tali-Ihantala failed the Leningrad front shifted their focus to the area between Äyräpää and Kylä-Paakkola as the Vuoksi river could be easily crossed there. In real life the nothern side of river was a plain field and the southern side had a relatively high hill running through most of the battlefield. The map is based on the situation at the front around 5. july. The russians have broken through the finnish positions and cut the 2 Division in half. Finns are well dugged in at both bridgeheads but the russians now have an excellent view from the hill to the finnish side of the river and have brought guns to fire directly at the finnish positions on the far side of the plains. Map looks something like this.

Looks good Algore, if you are feeling generous the goddam Russkis could get some La5 FNs and Yak3s but Im not familiar with the front so I defer to you on that basis.

Sounds good Algore! I did some research about this scenario in general for my Red Stars campaign which was La-5 over the battlefront right at the end of the conflict. It wasn't the greatest campaign on my part but it was interesting to do.

Oh and welcome to the mapping bug! You may have trouble stopping :)
