Cool! Looks like fun...good spot on the map too. Its a very scenic area with the high mountains on either side and probably allot of fighting going on down the middle. The He-162A-2...that one might cause an issue with its performance but maybe not. No recommendations there yet...best to see how the map plays out.

You might be right with the Heinkel. I substituted her with the Go-229. Few can handle her, yet as a bat she'll feel quite at home in the Tatra mountains. ;)

Something I'd like to get some feedback on is the dive speed issue of the VVS rocket planes. Both Yak3R and La7R have a dive speed limit of only 750km/h. Whereas the P63C and Yak3 VK-107 are a much saver bet with 880km/h respectively 900km/h. Plus, they are very short legged and the rocket Yak comes with 60rounds only. So, would the implementation of the rocket planes make sense in the first place?

I'd say keep the plane set to those planes that actually flew. I know the fantasy planes are fun and that but we have enough of them especially for the eastern front.

Does that mean leave out the Yak 3 VK-107 then? Or did it see WW2 service?

Same here. Late war planes without jets or fantasy planes. This map is so good, and I'm sure many people would like to se '44/'45 planeset there.

Just a reminder, this is August 1945.

A non-historical mission.

Therefor not a single VVS fighter listed above, except the P63C and Vk-107(100 put into service in early 45), saw combat in WWII. Yet they would seam to be a logical choice to counter a push-back by the German jet fighters and bombers, but the concept of a rocket in the tail just proved to be unsatisfactory, just like we have it in the game. Therefor I would like to stick to the standard models of the La7 and Yak3.

We can even leave out the Go-229 as being to "fictional".

I'd rather have a march '45 mission on the without the fantasy kites and possibly some romanian stuff on the red side.

No problem, we can easily turn this into a second Hungary 45... (without snow)

Lets not have more Hungary 45 snow please...

what about no P39s??

just pure Russki?
It would be different.

Opinions?

I liked the second version of the original idea. At least it had some aircraft that we don't see much of on other maps. :)

Sonko

I second that above.

Zorin
22-02-2008, 15:21
and why couldn't you say that before I spent 7 hours researching!?!

Sonko
22-02-2008, 15:26
because I didnt follow the thread all time :)
you might well use your researched stuff for another mission in that area, not?
the latest planeset looks quite good too IMO, its just that I had the feel more to tend towards the 2nd set

Zorin
22-02-2008, 23:31
Exactly which planes from the second set you miss?

Sonko
23-02-2008, 14:39
?do you want to know which plane actually is missing in the planeset or which plane i like to fly most from the set?

Which plane you and others who prefer set no.2 are missing in the new set.

Sonko

The Pe-2 as "heavy" bomber for reds for example.

How to say it, the last set is kind of standard, the second set is kind of cool, especially because the overkill jets of 1946 are left out in the second one.

And both, hunting in, and hunting with the Arrrr234 is quite nice, this plane is very rare on the servers, would be nice to see it around. This is where this non overkill '46 map comes to fit quite well IMO.

Zorin

I really don't mind adding the Pe-2 and Arado234 at all. With a rearward base and a spawn limit the Arado shouldn't prove to uber and the Pe-2 with all the 12.7 mm gunners should have a fair chance of survival, especially with only a single MK108 plane on the LW side.

BUMP - Worth working on again?

Sonko

Yes it is, definitely!
But take your time, it won't happen tomorrow that UKD2 is switched over to 4.09.

Is there an estimate as to when we make the change over?

Mod compatibility with 4.09m?

Sonko
27-10-2009, 22:01
Thats also a reason, but first reason would be to get someone (e.g. me) to do it.
And I'm quite occupied there days so I don't have much time for IL2.

Zorin

So we wait for 1.2.5 and Sonko'S next lunch break, ok? ;)

Yep, lets do that :D

Could anyone post a picture of the Slovakia map optimized for Online play, the new version with the extra airfields?

Thanks Fusek.

So they addded only two airfields; one in Poland and one in Hungary?
