Word on the street is its going to be difficult to create maps for BoS. Anyone got any more info?

We sometimes call "maps" as missions because of the way that the IL-2 dogfight server works. Its more like laying out a map and then watching the chaos unfold :)

I'm not sure what the Rise of Flight multiplayer model is like... but I've watched the mission builder tutorials and its a lot more complex and more difficult to test than with IL-2 which is, comparatively, fairly simple to use. We'll see what we get with and after release.

Missions would be the better word because in some games, like
DCS WWII: Europe 1944
Users are supposed to be able to make their own maps as well, not just missions.

Word is that the Battle of Stalingrad mission builder will be easier to use than the Rise of Flight mission builder.


It is quite complex in ROF indeed, so for IL2BOS we're preparing something more like in old IL-2 but with advanced AI-based scenario features from ROF.

Interesting choice... I think this is a good thing overall, however, I do hope that it still possesses sufficient level of complexity too. Too simple and it does nothing, too complex and it doesn't do enough. We'll see!

The mission editor has a logo now! We're all guessing that it will come with something that is a bit easier to use than the RoF system.



What else is coming to BOS this spring? Of course, I’m talking about full mission editor and dedicated server software which will become available to every player. We’ve overcome some temporary difficulties, and now we’re working actively on the user version of FME. It should be ready this spring, in April or May 2015. And as the development goes, Loft and I will be sharing the most interesting details about it with you.
