The Red team achieves it objective if the bombers hit the target and return without loss and so shooting down Blues isn't a priority. Keeping the bombers safe is.

What about a three layered approach? MKIXs highest with a brief designed to intercept enemy aircraft before they can dive on the bomber formation. A mid layer of MkV clipped to catch any that dive through the top cover or come in below the cover, the MkV clipped has the better roll rate for engageing diving aircraft. Finally a close escort of standard MkVs as a last line of defence.

Enemy aircraft are not to be followed if they dive through the formation heading for the deck and pilots must not 'gang up' on individual enemy aircraft leaving gaps in the cover.

    Very nicely put Yellow.

I had something like that in mind as well.

We need to set up flight leaders. One for each Spitfire group.

I suggest that we set up our flight plan before the acctual mission on TS and leaders brief their groups after that.

We write down grids and headings to each checkpoint. For easier navigating.

Leader and Deputy per flight, and after briefing we set up whispers between TS channels.

Thoughts? Is it too much (seriuos)?

I'm concerned about the range of the Spit Vs (IXs can take tanks). They will have to run seriously lean so they don't run out of fuel while we fly around off the map.

We can get some altitude first and the RV with fighter screen.

Btw. I organised a bomber practice this Sunday, at 15:00h NY time / 20:00h UK time. All bomber pilots are required to come. If not, I'll try to organise another one a day before the mission, on July 4th, just in case.

Meeting is on Winds of War TeamSpeak server:

    70.87.121.84:8767

    - without pass.

    We'll take it from there.

If any of you fighter jocks want to join us, feel free to do so. We can have a preliminary briefing.

I won't be able to make that. I'll be out of town and away from an Il-2 capable computer until late Sunday night.

This is the only information I have so far. Until Zorin provides more details.

I'm pretty certain I can make it on the official date (Saturday the 5th, I will find out for certain ASAP) and I CAN be on coms but mic ability is debatable, I obviously can't be in a "lead" position but do you guys mind having a silent Fighter escort? I will be able to hear the flight leaders etc.

If it will be a problem and I seriously understand if anyone does see this as a problem I will happily give up my place in the roster.

Done fodder. Btw. please post in our bomber forum as well.

    Not at all Shifter!

As long as you can listen whats going on this is perfectly understandable.

Now please, tell me, how can we possibly forbid you to fly with us after those superb skins you did?

So I don't need to reply at two threads - yeah, dedicated escort squadron would be excellent. So far BLUE team is growing fast and we only have 6 Spitfires. Fighter pilots are needed!

    [Beware: Heavy Irony]

Yo. Yo. Bomb da Base. Wid da Homies y'all.

I trust you find that this and my previous onomatopoeic strategy guide is all constructive input.

I like to think I am bringing something fresh to the table when we touch base, so that we can move forward within a positive framework in a pro-active, incentivised way, able to think outside the loop and get some real leverage out of our blue sky thinking, resulting in actionable solutions that tick all the boxes.

Good, that's tactics sorted.....everyone in your planes lets go!!!!

lol I've to so many meetings that have sounded like that!

Some of us even use to have a scoresheet in the form of bingo and tick off certain phrases that the managerial types would use like the above

    Anyhoo back on topic...........Thanks Thor
