Oh boy, were these the most epic years of flight simulation or what?
I miss the good old 1946 for the great time we've had playing it.
I'm playing BoS more regularly but it's not the same. The amazingness of the graphics don't compensate what we've missed.
Many many thanks to all and I hope you're doing well.

Im just getting sacked off with companies snooping my data. If you havent watched it yet have a look at Hacked on netflix. Discord might be free, but noting is truly free is it? Anyhow.without sounding like a dinosaur Im not a fan either.

Had a text from Veta today, one of the Old guard! Seem to remember a trip to ECTS in 2000, chuff me where has that time gone!!

DBS has moved entirely to Discord now, ever since Bone announced pulling the plug. A year ago IIRC.

And almost every server in IL-2:GB has its own Discord server now. It is nice for smaller groups like DBS for instance.

For proper comms you still need TS, and proper forums - forums like this one.

I think things went quiet after we went offline for a while due to the IP changes. Then the guys I played with went onto discord because one new guy wouldnt use TS I refuse to use discord

The only reason I said I would probably pull the plug is it was all becoming very expensive for me personally.

I only popped in as a birthday greeting popped up! I loved my earlier time playing CS etc with people on here. But time moves on. Ill always be grateful to Bonehead and many others for the great times on here. Sad to see it go but thats the nostalgia bit! I still play online but only PUBG now.

Take care Bone and all the others I had very fond memories of playing alongside. (i almost wrote playing with but that sounded dodgy!)

Well when I get the energy I stream whatever takes my fancy on twitch so come say hi and maybe we can get some games together if I play something anyone likes. Oh and yeah turned 50 last week, so you're not wrong, still not a grown up. Been a couple of months since I last had any energy after work and my main hdd died so every single setting of value went out the window. Primarily been getting my audio correct as I audition regularly for voiceover work, without much success yet but I'll get there, stream settings up next.

@Bone How is Veta is he still RAF? I recall that was his aim but I've not been good at keeping up with people (or anyone else, I'm just bad at it). (I see you Nastie!)

    Hello all

I had just started playing Counterstrike three weeks before. It would have been v1.1 back in the days before voice coms where you had to type everything you wanted to say and a ping below 150 was great. I went to my first lan, Oxlan ran by Andy (Fizzer). I commented to him how much more fun it was playing at the lan rather than online, I had been joining random CS servers at that point picking whichever one had the lowest ping and had no knowledge of clan servers, he pointed me in the direction of the Battlefields server. Quite a few of the people who went to Oxlan were also Battle-fields or Cult server regulars.

I ended up having years of evenings and weekends of fun with a great community and meeting a lot of you at the Oxlan and Battle-field lans.

I did have a trawl earlier this year through old hard drives trying to find the pictures I took at the lans, particularly the ones from the link below at the 2003 Stoke lan, but unfortunately canít find them. They were hosted by my isp at the time Freeserve, and the links did stay active for years after I left them but are now no more.

I do wonder how many of the people from the counterstrike era BF community, many of whom were teenagers back then are still gaming.

Thanks to Bonehead and all the rest of you who helped make the community.

    Good times.

Its great to see some of the 'old hands' show up! My 19 year old son was still in liquid form when I started the forums. I might see if I can encourage Morgo the guy who started it with me back in 1996 or 7. He was still in short trousers at Manchester Uni. He used to host the deltaforce games on the university fast network when the rest of us were strugling with 28k !

Just wondering if I should keep a small message board going so people can keep in touch especially if they are still gaming.
